These guys designed a huge amount of Logos for Netflix Greek streamers!
Let’s hear it from the two awesome Graphics Designers from Greece!Thanos Chatzitsakos
How did you (Chris and Dimitris) meet?
Have you worked as a team before? Or this was your first collaboration?
We studied at the same school of graphic design, at the University of West Attica.
We have been friends since then and help each other with our personal projects.
How did the Netflix project happened?
You’ve send them a job request? Or did they reach out for you?
Give us the early beginning story!
(Chris) Apparently they discovered me through Behance.
So, last summer they reached out to me through email.
I didn't know anything about the project or the client before I signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).
Dimitris was the perfect guy to collaborate on the project, so I reached out to him.
I imagine they provided specific fonts to you at some instances, but I’ve seen some unique Logos that you probably had to design from scratch.
Am I correct?
Tell us about the process, was there any amount of freedom?
We didn't have any fonts provided.
They provided us with the English title and the translation in Greek.
It was then up to us to design the title in Greek, either by searching a similar font to redesign in Greek or by recreating the font from scratch, through illustrator or in some cases draw them by hand.
If you have to pick one, what was the most complex logotype you designed for Netflix?
Chris: I can't recall a specific one but definitely all the titles that required a 3D approach.
Also, all the small English titles that had long Greek translations, because it's difficult to keep the same balance between them.
Dimitris: I think I’m between “Barbie Dolphin Magic” and “Comedy School”, but I’ll choose the first one because it was one of the earliest complex titles I had to design.
My favorite logo of your presentation is the “Vikings”, it’s probably because I am a fun, but I truly believe you nailed the textures and you delivered a perfect piece!
Which one is your personal favorite? And why
Chris: I will go with “Vikings” and ‘’ Altered Carbon’’.
I think that they are well designed titles, so it was fun for me too localized them.
Dimitris: Hmm… I think I’ll choose “Magic for Humans” because I like both the show and the graphic style of the logo!
Your Behance presentation for this project looks phenomenal and the Promo Vid seems to be a big project on its own!
Looks to me like, after all this hard work (500 titles, 2500 artworks) your enthusiasm and your creative spirit never got tired!
How does it feel to deliver for Netflix? and know that your work is gonna be browsed in such a huge platform?
Thank you! Yes, we are continuing to enjoying the process of it and of course love the feeling of seeing the final product of our work when we are watching our favorite shows on Netflix.
How long did this project last?
You ll make more designs for Netflix in the future?
The first agreement was to work for three months.
But, it has been more than a year that we continue working on this project.
More titles keep coming and we are already designing the next Greek titles that will soon be available on the Netflix platform.
I know Netflix has allot more than 500 titles, and I’ve seen other Greek designers presenting their work for Netflix.
Have you met or talked with any of them?
Yes, 500 titles it's a big number for only two people to design but it's only a small part of all the titles that are and will be available on Netflix.
We know some freelancers and three big creative studios here in Greece, that have also worked on the same project and we are really admiring their job.
